Tilapia Acuacultura Yucatán is owned and operated by Inovaciónes Agrícolas Yucatán SA de RL de CV under the direction of Lic. Cristina Romero, her family, and her husband, Ing. Guillermo Romero. The Tilapia farm is located at Rancho Santa Cruz, Panaba, and has been under the current management since August 2010. Tilapia Acuacultura Yucatán is part of a growing number of interrelated and interdependent projects which support and promote profitable, sustainable, intelligent, and innovative production and investment strategies and land and water use. These strategies may include, but are not necessarily limited to, agriculture, aquaculture including aquaponics, animal husbandry, on-site production of organic fertilizers and pesticides, commercial reforestation, habitat restoration, hosting and support of endangered species (both animal and plant).

We are also involved in the onsite production of a wide range of increasingly organic fish and animal feeds and supplements.  Our near term goal is complete independence from non-organic, commercially produced products and chemicals be they related to agriculture, aquaculture, aquaponics, animal husbandry, or forestry.

Located in the heart of the Mayan Yucatán, our Tilapia farm and operations function under the strictest of sanitary and production standards and regularly are monitored, by invitation, and in cooperation with CESAY (Comité Estatal de Sanidad Acuícola de Yucatán A.C.) which is the local agency with hands-on, day to day, responsibility for monitoring and evaluation of production practices for the federal government under SAGARPA and its sub-committee SENASICA: Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad, y Calidad Alimentaria. We are members of and registered with the Mexican National Registry of Fisheries under the umbrella agency SAGARPA. Of the 21 participating Tilapia farms in our region, Tilapia Acuacultura Yucatán, received the highest ratings for improved, ongoing operations and practices in 2011.

In October, 2011, our facility hosted the first in an on-going series of all-day work-shops in cooperation with CESAY (Comité Estatal de Sanidad Acuícola de Yucatán A.C.) which are dedicated to continuing education for producers in real-world, sanitation and production practices for Mexican Aquaculture. Mexican producers and government scientists work very diligently to produce a product second to none. The result most often is fish of exceptional quality.  However, this level of quality is not without its costs. It is therefore up to Federal government officials and legislators, wholesalers and retailers, as well as end consumers to decide if the quality of their own food as well as the quality of the fish that they are serving to their own families, clients  and constituents is worth the very real costs that Mexican producers must assume or go out of business?

We at Tilapia Acuacultura Yucatán are dedicated to the highest quality in all of our products and services at all times and at every level.  This is our promise and our guarantee.
